Walking In Divine Power

And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power”—1Corintians 2:4

The word POWER as translated in the New Testament, is from the Greek words: “exousia” and “dynamis”. Exousia refers to authoritative power or privileged right. While “dynamis” refers to miraculous power. From the opening text, the Apostle Paul by the Spirit says his speech and preaching was not with enticing words of man’s wisdom; but in demonstration of the Spirit and power.

In other words, he is saying Christianity is not just all about eloquence of speech and theological jargons—like most people have reduced it to. But rather, it’s majorly about the demonstration of the power   of God. In another verse, he says “For the kingdom of God is not in word, but in power”—1Corinthians 4:20.

So power is a major feature of the kingdom of God. Without the demonstration of the power of God, Christianity is reduced to mere religion. And this is why God has made his power abundantly available to every believer in Christ Jesus. God has given every believer authority (exousia—Luke 10:19) and miracle working power (dynamis—Acts 1:8) in Christ Jesus. But despite this abundant provisions of God’s power to his children, only a very tiny handful of believers know about and walk in this divine power.

The majority of believers all over the world does not have good understanding of this divine power in them, let alone walk in them. And as such, they leave a big loophole for the devil and nature to take undue advantage of them. So in this article, we’ll be learning scripturally about divine power and how we can start walking in or demonstrating this divine power in our daily lives.

The Purpose of Divine Power

Below is a list of the major purpose of divine power:

  1. Salvation
  2. Protection
  3. Transformation of life
  4. Wealth
  5. Success
  6. Resurrection
  7. Healing
  8. All purpose

How to Receive Divine Power

Scripturally, there are basically two steps to receiving divine power into our lives. These are:

  1. Salvation by Faith: “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” The major and primary way of receiving the power of God in your life is salvation. By receiving the Lord Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and personal saviour through faith.

The above scripture says as many as received him (Jesus) to them gave he power to become the sons of God. So everyone that has received Jesus as his or her Lord and personal Saviour already has the power of God (Exousia  and Dynamis) at work in his life.

  2. The Baptism of The Holy Ghost: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you; and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” When we receive Jesus as our Lord and personal saviour, we receive the authoritative power of God as well as the miraculous power of God in us.

But this power we receive at salvation gains full manifestation in our lives as we receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.

How to Walk In Divine Power

Listed below are the scriptural keys for walking in divine power. Both the authoritative and the miraculous power of God.

  1. Faith: A Lifestyle of faith is the principal way of walking in divine power (Mark9:23). We demonstrate the power of God in our lives as we walk in faith.
  2. The Word of God:  We walk in divine power by reading, meditating and confessing God’s word by faith (Romans 1:16, Hebrews 4:12).
  3. Communion with the Holy Ghost: We walk in divine power as we give ourselves continually to communion with the Holy Ghost.
  4. Knowledge: Revelational knowledge of God’s word empowers us to walk effectively in divine power. The more light of God’s word you have in your spirit, the more divine power you walk in (Ephesians1:17-20).

We have seen the scriptural keys of walking in the divine power of God in us. Both the authoritative and miraculous power. But however, the starting point of walking in divine power is being born again, by receiving Jesus as your Lord and saviour.
